History of Weiler & Associates, Inc.
About Our Kane County Family Law Firm
The origins of our law firm trace back to the opening of Rory T. Weiler, P.C., on October 1, 1982. At the time, the firm was engaged in the general practice of law in Elburn, Illinois, with a heavy emphasis in family law. However, as a small town law firm, the general practice included real estate, estate planning, criminal defense, and other types of legal matters.
In 1987, Attorney John Noble joined the firm as an associate, and a second office was opened in Batavia, Illinois. The firm continued handling a variety of legal matters, although the addition of Mr. Noble enabled Rory Weiler to focus his efforts more and more on the practice of divorce and family law. Mr. Noble became a partner in 1988, and Weiler and Noble, P.C. was formed.
By 1993, the firm’s family law practice had expanded to the point that the decision was made to close the Elburn office and move into an expanded and more modern office in Batavia. This enabled Rory to be closer to the Kane County Courthouse and also closer to the larger population/client base of the tri-cities (Batavia, Geneva, and St. Charles). The firm’s office was also closer to DuPage County, another client center. It was at this point that Rory began limiting his practice to only divorce and family law matters, focusing particularly on more complicated litigation involving issues such as child custody, business valuation and division, and high net worth individuals.
In the early 2000s, Mr. Noble was appointed city attorney for the City of Batavia, and thereafter, he focused his practice on that position. In 2005, the decision was made to terminate the Weiler & Noble firm, as Mr. Noble was hired by the City of Batavia, and Rory began looking for a new affiliation. In 2006, Rory joined the firm of Weiler & Lengle, P.C., which had been started in 2004 by attorneys Dan Weiler and Phil Lengle. The three partners then moved the firm to its current office in St. Charles in 2007. Dan and Rory are not related. At the time Dan’s practice was focused on estate planning, and Phil and Rory limited their practice to divorce and family law. They remained partners until Dan tragically died from ALS in June of 2017.
In January of 2009, Timothy E. Weiler began working at Weiler & Lengle, P.C., and he graduated from John Marshall Law School (Chicago) in December of 2011. Tim was licensed to practice in Illinois in May of 2012, and he began working at the firm full-time as an associate lawyer. He joined the divorce/family law practice at that time, and he has concentrated his practice in divorce/family law throughout his professional career. He became a partner in Weiler & Lengle, P.C. in 2015.
In 2019, Attorney Peter Follenweider joined the firm as an associate, and he remains with the firm, handling divorce/family law matters and also engaging in other general civil litigation. In 2023, Tim formed Weiler & Associates, Inc., and Mr. Lengle commenced practice on his own.
Weiler & Associates, Inc. provides nearly 75 years of practice experience and leadership in the divorce/family law practice and in local and state bar associations. Rory Weiler served as president of the Illinois State Bar Association in 2022-2023. Weiler & Associates, Inc. continues to focus its professional practice in divorce and family law, concentrating on complicated litigation involving issues such as child custody disputes, division of business interests and other complex assets, and high net worth spouses. Rory T. Weiler remains of counsel to the firm.
